QMJHL Roundup: Lalonde leads Cataractes over Sea Dogs with four-point outing

SHAWINIGAN, Que. - Christophe Lalonde scored twice and set up two more as the Shawinigan Cataractes took advantage of their power play to defeat the visiting Saint John Sea Dogs 7-1 on Thursday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Alex Pawelczyk also had a pair of goals for the Cataractes (26-18-3), while Giovanni Fiore and Anthony Beauvillier each added a goal and an assist. Brandon Gignac scored once to round out the attack.

Shawinigan's Marvin Cupper turned away 21 shots for the win.

Mathieu Joseph scored for the Sea Dogs (25-15-7). Alex Bishop stopped 35-of-42 shots in net.

Saint John forward Justice Dundas was handed a game misconduct for slashing at the end of regulation.

The Cataractes connected five times on 13 power-play chances while the Sea Dogs went 0 for 3.

ISLANDERS 5 DRAKKAR 1

CHARLOTTETOWN — Mason McDonald made 27 saves and Filip Chlapik had a goal and an assist as the Islanders halted Baie-Comeau's five-game win streak.

Daniel Sprong, Spenser Cobbold, Guillaume Rioux-Legault and Alexandre Goulet also scored for Charlottetown (25-20-4), while Bradley Kennedy tacked on two assists.

Matthieu Desautels responded for the Drakkar (27-14-7). Philippe Cadorette gave up four goals on 26 shots before giving way to Alexandre Lagace, who stopped 10-of-11 shots in 21:17 of relief.

WILDCATS 5 TITAN 2

BATHURST, N.B. — Dominic Talbot-Tassi scored once and set up two more and Alex Dubeau kicked out 24 shots as Moncton toppled the Titan.

Adam Holwell, Garrett Johnston, Jacob Sweeney and Liam Murphy supplied the rest of the offence for the Wildcats (31-14-3).

Raphael Corriveau had a pair of goals for Acadie-Bathurst (14-32-6). Reilly Pickard allowed four goals on 15 shots through two periods of action. Daniel Vatour came in for the third period and turned aside 13-of-14 shots.

HUSKIES 7 OLYMPIQUES 5

ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. — Jean-Christophe Beaudin had a goal and two assists and Francis Perron added a pair of goals as the Huskies held off Gatineau.

Jeremy Lauzon, Julien Nantel and Antoine Waked each had a goal and an assist for Rouyn-Noranda (24-22-3), while Mathieu Boucher added the other. Jeremy Belisle made 19 saves for the win.

Alex Dostie led the Olympiques (19-27-4) with two goals and an assist, Yakov Trenin scored once and set up two more and Alex Breton and Alexandre Carrier added single goals. Nicolas Lachance took the loss after giving up two goals on seven shots in 14:37 of relief. Francois Brassard started in net for Gatineau but was pulled after five pucks got past him on 21 attempts.
