KINGS HONOR BLAKE

Former Los Angeles Kings captain/defenseman, current club executive and 2014 Hockey Hall of Fame inductee Rob Blake had his No. 4 jersey raised to the rafters at STAPLES Center.

Blake became the sixth Kings player to be so honored, joining Luc Robitaille (No. 20/2007), Wayne Gretzky (No. 99/2002), Dave Taylor (No. 18/1995), Marcel Dionne (No. 16/1990) and Rogie Vachon (No. 30/1985).

Blake is the all-time leader in games played, goals, assists and points by a Kings defenseman. He played 14 of his 20 NHL seasons with the Kings, including six as captain. He helped L.A. reach the Stanley Cup Final in 1993, won the franchise's first Norris Trophy in 1998 and made seven trips to the NHL All-Star Game, representing the Kings four times.

CALLAHAN, BISHOP HELP LIGHTNING REGAIN TOP SPOT IN EAST . . .

Ryan Callahan scored in regulation and had the game-deciding goal in the shootout to lift the Tampa Bay Lightning to their seventh consecutive home win. Tampa Bay shares the League lead in home wins (18) and home points (37).

* With the victory, the Lightning (29-14-4, 62 points) leapfrogged the New York Islanders (30-14-1, 61 points), who lost Saturday at the Montreal Canadiens, for first place in the Eastern Conference. New York holds two games in hand, but Tampa Bay holds the ROW tiebreaker (TBL: 27, NYI: 24).

* Lightning goalie Ben Bishop matched a season high with 40 saves, and added two stops in the shootout, to earn his seventh win in his past eight games. Bishop shares fourth in the NHL with 23 wins in 36 appearances this season.

* Callahan scored his second game-deciding goal of the season to help the Lighting improve to 2-4 in tiebreakers; he and Nikita Kucherov each improved to 2-for-4 this season.

* Colorado Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon (1-1—2) forced overtime with his tying goal with 6.8 seconds left in regulation. Per Elias, there have been 16 final-minute tying goals this season, including four in the last 10 seconds.

... CANADIENS, RED WINGS RIDE OFFENSE TO VICTORIES

Montreal's Tomas Plekanec (2-2—4) and Tomas Tatar (2-1—3) of the Detroit Red Wings matched and established career highs for points in a game, respectively, to help their teams keep pace in the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference. The Canadiens (28-13-3, 59 points) and Red Wings (25-11-9, 59 points) remain tied in terms of points but Montreal has one game in hand and therefore sits in second place in the division. Detroit, however, holds the ROW tiebreaker (DET: 24, MTL: 23).

* Plekanec scored four points for the sixth time in his career and for the first time since Nov. 13, 2010 vs. CAR (1-3—4). He has 2-4—6 in his last three games.

* Andrei Markov had three assists to match a career high for the 11th time (last: March 1, 2014 against the Toronto Maple Leafs). It also marked his second three-point game of the season, following a goal and three assists at the Philadelphia Flyers on Oct. 11.

* Though Max Pacioretty had his career-high goal streak halted at six games, he had two assists to extend his point streak to seven games (7-3—10). He leads the Canadiens with 21 goals and 38 points in 44 games this season.

* P.K. Subban scored his 10th goal (44 GP) to match his 82-game high from last season and move within four of his career high set in 2010-11 (77 GP). David Desharnais (1-1—2) scored his third game-winning goal of the season (10th of his career) to match a career high set in 2012-13.

* Making consecutive starts for the first time this season, Dustin Tokarski made 27 saves to improve to 5-3-1 with a 2.50 goals-against average and .917 save percentage in 10 appearances.

* Tatar helped the Red Wings open a 3-0 midway through the first period and later added a goal to reach the 20-goal mark for the first time in his career. Tatar, who stretched his point streak to four games (4-2—6), leads Detroit in goals and is tied for third with 32 points.

* Petr Mrazek made 34 shots to win his third straight start since taking over for the injured Jimmy Howard. He is 8-3-1 in 12 appearances this season with a 2.12 GAA and .923 save percentage.

* Pavel Datsyuk, Riley Sheahan and Niklas Kronwall each had two assists. Datsyuk ranks second on the Red Wings with 15 goals and 34 points despite playing in 34 games; he has 21 goals and 71 points in 64 career games against the Nashville Predators.

* The Red Wings have won five of their last six games against the Predators at Joe Louis Arena (dating to Nov. 26, 2011) and improved to 30-8-7 in 45 all-time home games.

DUCKS RECLAIM TOP SPOT WITH FREEWAY FACE-OFF WIN

Ryan Getzlaf and Sami Vatanen each scored in regulation to help the Anaheim Ducks rally from a pair of one-goal deficits before Jakob Silfverberg scored the lone shootout marker to lift Anaheim to its third straight victory. The Ducks improved to 2-0-1 in the "Freeway Face-Off" this season, with all three games requiring extra time.

* With the victory, the Ducks (30-10-6, 66 points) again overtook the Predators (30-10-4, 64 points), who lost in regulation at Detroit, for first place in the League.

* Getzlaf has 14 goals and 49 points in 45 appearances to share fifth in NHL scoring, four points behind League leader Jakub Voracek. Vatanen scored his 10th goal to move within two of Erik Johnson for the League lead among defensemen.

* Silfverberg scored his third career game-deciding goal (first this season) to improve to 7-for-11 (63.6%) in tiebreakers this season and 12-for-21 (57.1%) in his career.

* Frederik Andersen made 26 saves and denied all three attempts in the tiebreaker to improve to 25-6-5. He leads the League in shootout wins (6) and ranks second in overall victories.

* The Ducks improved to 11-6 past regulation, including 7-4 in shootouts. Anaheim improved to 22-0-6 in one-goal games; its 22 wins lead the League and its .786 winning percentage ranks second behind the Islanders (.818).

ELLIOTT BACKSTOPS BLUES INTO SECOND IN CENTRAL

Brian Elliott made 27 saves for his third shutout of the season to lead the St. Louis Blues to their third straight win against the Toronto Maple Leafs and eighth straight game with a point (6-0-2 dating to Jan. 29, 2008). The Blues improved to 6-0-1 in their past seven games to match a season-high point streak.

* With the victory, the Blues (28-13-4, 60 points) leapfrogged the idle Chicago Blackhawks (28-14-2, 58 points) into second place in the Central Division and gained two points on the top-ranked Predators (30-10-4, 64 points). Chicago and Nashville each have one game in hand on St. Louis.

* Elliott earned his 19th shutout in a Blues uniform (28th of his NHL career) to move within one of tying Jaroslav Halak (20) for the franchise record. He improved to 12-5-2 in 21 appearances this season; he leads the League in goals-against average (1.90), ranks fourth in save percentage (.929) and is tied for sixth in shutouts.

* Facing the team that selected him in the first round (No. 24) in the 2002 NHL Draft, Alexander Steen had a goal and assist to stretch his point streak to nine games (7-9—16). That is the longest point streak by a Blues player since his career high 13-game stretch from Oct. 17 to Nov. 16, 2013 (13-5—18).

* According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Steen is the first Blues player to have a point streak of at least nine games in consecutive seasons since Pavol Demitra, Keith Tkachuk and Doug Weight all accomplished the feat from 2002-03 to 2003-04.

* Steen also stretched his goal streak to five games, one shy of his career-high set during his career-high point streak last season.

* David Backes (0-2—2) earned points for the sixth straight game, matching a career high for the third time (last: Nov. 11-20, 2010). His current stretch includes five multi-point games. Per Elias, he is the first Blues player to have five multi-point performances in a six-game span since Weight from Oct. 30 to Nov. 9, 2002 (also five of six games). Backes had only three such performances in his first 38 games this season.

* Kevin Shattenkirk scored his eighth goal (the game-winner) to maintain his hold on first place in the scoring race among defensemen (8-31—39 in 45 games, tied with Mark Giordano).

* Blues coach Ken Hitchcock earned his 685th win behind a NHL bench, surpassing Pat Quinn for fifth on the all-time list.

MONAHAN SCORES (ANOTHER) OT WINNER TO LIFT FLAMES INTO PLAYOFF PICTURE

After the Calgary Flames saw their 2-0 lead erased in a span of nine minutes in the second period, Jiri Hudler tied the game before the end of the frame and Sean Monahan scored 24 seconds into overtime to help the Flames emerge with their third straight win.

* With the victory, the Flames (24-18-3, 51 points) leapfrogged the Kings (20-14-11, 51 points), who lost in a shootout to Anaheim, for the second Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. Though each team has 51 points, Calgary holds the ROW tiebreaker (CGY: 21, LAK: 19).

* Monahan scored his fourth career overtime goal (third this season) to tie Valeri Bure for third on the franchise's all-time list. Only Jarome Iginla (6) and Theo Fleury (5) have more.

* Per Elias, Monahan (20 years, 89 days) is the youngest player in NHL history to reach four career overtime goals, shattering Ilya Kovalchuk's previous mark of 20 years, 218 days.

* Elias also says Monahan (120 GP) required the second-fewest games to score four overtime goals in the expansion era (since 1967-68). Tyson Barrie holds the record with four in 98 games.

QUICK GOALS HELP STARS SURVIVE RALLY

After the Dallas Stars had their 3-0 lead erased early in the third period, Antoine Roussel and Jamie Benn scored 16 seconds apart to lift the Stars to their sixth straight win against the Washington Capitals (dating to Mar. 8, 2010). Dallas improved to 18-1-4 against Washington since 1996-97.

* Tyler Seguin (1-1—2), Erik Cole (1-1—2) and Jason Spezza (1-1—2) propelled the Stars to a 3-0 lead before the five-minute mark of the second period before yielding three straight goals to the Capitals, including Alex Ovechkin's tying goal 21 seconds into the final frame.

* Seguin snapped a six-game goal drought to reclaim the scoring lead with his 27th goal. He shares second in the NHL in points with 50 (27 goals, 23 assists) in 44 appearances (tied with Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby).

* Kari Lehtonen made 28 saves to improve to 14-6-2 in 22 career appearances against the Capitals, including five straight victories.

* According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the Stars surrendered a three-goal lead but won in regulation for the first time since Dec. 3, 2013 against the Blackhawks, when the Stars also let a 3-0 slip before emerging with a 4-3 win.

DUBNYK RECORDS ASSIST, WIN AGAINST FORMER CLUB

Facing his former team in his second game with the Minnesota Wild, Devan Dubnyk made 25 saves and earned an assist on the game-winning goal to help the Wild earn their fifth straight win against the Arizona Coyotes (dating to Jan. 9, 2014).

* Dubnyk has stopped 43 of 44 shots in a Wild uniform, following a shutout in his debut Thursday. His assist earned the second assist of his career (also Feb. 27, 2012 at the Winnipeg Jets) and first by a Wild goaltender since Niklas Backstrom on Dec. 12, 2011 against the New Jersey Devils.

* Zach Parise (Minneapolis) scored his 16th goal of the season on the ninth annual Hockey Day Minnesota. He has eight goals and 12 points in 12 career games against the Coyotes.

* Jason Zucker also scored his 16th goal to remain tied with Parise for the team lead. It marked his second game-winner of the season and third of his career.

AROUND THE RINKS

Highlights from the rest of Saturday's action:

* Matt Calvert broke a 1-1 tie with two goals in the final 3:03 of regulation to help the Columbus Blue Jackets halt the Boston Bruins' home point streak at nine games (6-0-3) and earn their first win in Boston since Jan. 21, 2010 (snapping a three-game skid, 0-1-2). Calvert had his only other multi-goal game in the regular season on Feb. 25, 2011 when he had a hat trick in a 5-3 win against the Coyotes. Ryan Johansen (1-1—2) extended his point streak to 13 games (8-8—16) to extend his franchise record and mark the longest point streak in the NHL since Patrice Bergeron had a 13-game stretch from March 17 to April 12, 2014. Curtis McElhinney made 34 saves, including 14 in the third period, to win his third consecutive decision.

* Rob Zepp made 24 saves and Michael Raffl scored the eventual game-winning goal to help the Flyers snap a two-game skid and win their fourth straight game against the Buffalo Sabres (dating to Nov. 21, 2013). After becoming the oldest goaltender in more than 87 years to win his NHL debut earlier this season, Zepp is 3-1-0 with a 2.38 GAA and .904 save percentage in five career appearances. Raffl scored his 12th goal and first game-winner of his sophomore season (38 GP); he had nine goals and 22 points, including three decisive goals, in 68 games during his rookie campaign.

* Justin Faulk (1-1—2) and Nathan Gerbe (1-1—2) each scored two points in the third period to help the Carolina Hurricanes erase a 2-1 deficit and improve to 7-1-1 in their past nine games against the Ottawa Senators (dating to Dec. 23, 2011). Faulk, who will represent Carolina at 2015 Honda NHL All-Star Weekend, shares the Senators lead with eight goals and 26 points. Gerbe (4-13—17 in 41 GP) scored his second winning goal of the season. Anton Khudobin made 30 saves to maintain his perfect career mark against the Senators (5-0-0 in 5 GP). After going 0-8-2 in his first 10 appearances this season, Khudobin has won his past four starts (1.41 GAA, .941 SV%) in that span.

* Down 2-1 after 40 minutes, Matt Hendricks tied the game with his third career shorthanded goal before Nail Yakupov scored the only goal of the shootout – on his first career attempt – to help the Edmonton Oilers win their sixth straight game at the Florida Panthers (dating to Dec. 7, 2002). Viktor Fasth made 35 saves, and denied all three attempts in the tiebreaker, to earn his first win since Nov. 9 at the New York Rangers. The Oilers earned their first victory of the season when trailing after the second period.

Flyers teammates Jakub Voracek (17-36—53 in 46 GP) and Claude Giroux (14-35—49 in 45 GP) each had an assist to maintain their position in the scoring race . . . Sabres forward Zemgus Girgensons, the leading vote-getter in the 2015 NHL All-Star Fan Vote, scored two goals to match a career high with 22 points in 46 games (8-14—22 in 70 GP in 2013-14) . . . Oilers forward Boyd Gordon earned his 100th NHL assist . . . Panthers goaltender Roberto Luongo played in his 838th NHL game, surpassing Jacques Plante for sole possession of 11th on the all-time list among goaltenders . . . Senators teammates David Legwand (1-4—5) and Mark Stone (2-4—6) each extended point streaks to five games . . . Islanders forward Anders Lee scored to push his point streak to four games (3-1—4) . . . After scoring four goals Friday, Kyle Okposo had a goal and an assist; he has six goals and 11 points in January (eight games) . . .
