HAMILTON - Jake Dowell had a short-handed goal and added an assist to lead the Hamilton Bulldogs in a 5-2 victory over the Texas Stars in American Hockey League action on Sunday.
Darren Dietz, Maxime Macenauer, and Connor Crisp also scored for the Bulldogs (14-11-5) while Drayson Bowman added an empty-net goal at 17:36 of the third period.
Dowell's goal, at 2:51 of the third, marked the eventual winner.
Justin Dowling and Greg Ralio replied for the Stars (11-9-8).
Hamilton goaltender Dustin Tokarski made 29 saves in the win. Texas's Jack Campbell stopped 22-of-26 shots.
The Bulldogs failed to score on five power-play opportunities. The Stars were 1 for 7 on the man advantage.
