WHL Roundup: Rodewald's five points lead Warriors over Oil Kings

EDMONTON - It was a big night for Moose Jaw's Jack Rodewald.

Rodewald scored twice and added three assists as the Warriors beat the Edmonton Oil Kings 7-4 on Saturday in Western Hockey League action.

Tanner Eberle also scored twice for Moose Jaw (13-13-3), with Brayden Point, Brett Howden and Torrin White rounding out the attack.

Dysin Mayo had a pair of goals for the Oil Kings (14-12-5). Andrew Koep and Ben Carroll also found the back of the net.

Zach Sawchenko turned away 25 shots for the victory. Tristan Jarry made 19 saves in 33:55. Patrick Dea replaced him and allowed one goal on six shots in 26:05.

The Warriors converted three times on eight power-play chances while Edmonton went 0 for 2.

WHEAT KINGS 6 BRONCOS 4

SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. — Ivan Provorov scored twice and added an assist as Brandon slipped past the Broncos.

Nolan Patrick, Tim McGauley, Reid Duke and Quintin Lisoway also found the back of the net for the Wheat Kings (22-7-2), who snapped a two-game skid.

Brycen Martin, Colby Cave, Jay Merkley and Glenn Gawdin scored for Swift Current (15-13-4).

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. — Wyatt Johnson struck twice as Red Deer doubled-up the Hurricanes.

Evan Polei and Brooks Maxwell also chipped in for the Rebels (16-11-4).

Taylor Cooper and Zane Jones responded for Lethbridge (6-19-4), which has now lost four-straight games.

VANCOUVER — Jackson Houck scored in both the shootout and regulation as the Giants edged Saskatoon.

Jakob Stukel tied the game at 14:28 of the third period with his first of the season for Vancouver (12-18-0), which won its third straight game.

Nikita Soshnin and Josh Uhrich supplied the offence for the Blades (7-21-3), who haven't won in seven games.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Paul Bittner scored twice for the Winterhawks as they defeated Everett.

Miles Koules, Dominic Turgeon and Oliver Bjorkstrand also found the back of the net for Portland (16-13-3). Layne Viveiros added three assists.

Remi Laurencelle, Graham Millar and Cole MacDonald replied for the Silvertips (17-7-4).

KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Jansen Harkins had two goals and two assists as Prince George doubled up the Blazers.

Marc McNulty, Zach Pochiro, Chance Braid and Tate Olson rounded out the attack for the Cougars (15-15-0).

Matt Revel, Matt Needham and Michael Fora scored for Kamloops (12-15-5).

KENT, Wash. — David Quenneville added an insurance goal late in the third period as Medicine Hat downed Seattle.

Zach Fischer, Steven Owre, Anthony Ast and Mark Rassell supplied the rest of the offence for the Tigers (21-6-2), who extended their winning streak to five game.

Keegan Kolesar struck twice for the Thunderbirds (12-13-4), with Evan Wardley adding the other Seattle goal.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Levi Cable scored the winner at 6:37 of the third period as Kootenay edged the Chiefs.

Sam Reinhart and Tim Bozon also chipped in for the Ice (15-15-0), who won their fourth straight.

Jason Fram struck twice for Spokane (14-11-3), which extended its losing streak to four games.

KELOWNA, B.C. — Jackson Whistle kicked out all 27 shots he faced as the Rockets held on to beat Prince Albert.

Dillon Dube scored the only goal of the game in the first period for Kelowna (24-4-3).

Nick McBride made 23 saves for the Raiders (15-15-0).
