TALBOT BACKSTOPS RANGERS TO SHUTOUT WIN

Cam Talbot made 31 saves to record his first win of the season and backstopped the New York Rangers to a 2-0 victory against the Philadelphia Flyers. The win was their ninth consecutive regular-season victory vs. the Flyers at Madison Square Garden, marking their longest home winning streak against one opponent since they won 11 in a row against Philadelphia from Jan. 14, 1990 to Nov. 4, 1992.

* New York has allowed two goals or fewer in each of those nine contests, including three shutouts, and has outscored Philadelphia 33-9. Overall the Rangers have won 14 of the past 18 regular-season games between the clubs dating to a 7-0 win on March 6, 2011.

* Talbot posted his first shutout of the season and fourth of his career (23 starts). According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Talbot is just the second Rangers goaltender to post four shutouts in his first 23 NHL starts – Lorne Chabot accomplished the feat in eight career starts in 1926-27.

* Rick Nash scored his 13th goal of the season and leads the Rangers in goals (13) and points (20). Nash ranks second in the NHL for goals behind Tyler Seguin of the Dallas Stars (14).

* Martin St. Louis recorded the primary assist on Nash's goal to stretch his point streak to three games (2-1—3). He has 15-44—59 in 47 career games against the Flyers.

* The game marked the first matchup between the Metropolitan Division rivals since the Rangers defeated the Flyers in Game 7 of the opening round of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The clubs will meet three more times this season, including twice in the next 10 days: Nov. 28 at Philadelphia (2014 Discover NHL Thanksgiving Showdown) and Nov. 29 at MSG.

WEBER'S WINNER ENDS SEESAW GAME

After his team surrendered a two-goal lead in a span of 11 seconds in the second period and another tying goal in the third period, Yannick Weber scored his first goal of the season to put the Vancouver Canucks ahead for good in a 5-4 win against the Edmonton Oilers.

* Radim Vrbata (2-0—0) scored twice and linemates Daniel Sedin (0-3—3) and Henrik Sedin (0-2—2) also posted multi-point games. The trio now has combined for 6-14—20 in four games against Edmonton this season.

* Ryan Miller stopped 28 shots to improve to 4-0-0 against the Oilers this season and 11-0-0 in his career against Edmonton.

* Jannik Hansen opened the scoring with his fourth career shorthanded goal and first since March 17 at Tampa Bay.

* Overall the Canucks have won eight of the past 11 meetings between the clubs dating to a 4-0 win on April 4, 2013.

* The Canucks remain the only team in the NHL that is undefeated in one-goal games (7-0-0).

Oilers forward Steven Pinizzotto, who played his first 12 career games with Vancouver before joining Edmonton in 2013-14, scored his first NHL goal and added an assist in his season debut. He now has four career NHL points, all of which have come in multi-point games against his former team; he was 0-2—2 on April 12.

* According to the Elias Sports Bureau, at 30 years, 207 days old, Pinizzotto is the third-oldest Oilers to score his first NHL goal. He sits behind Jaroslav Pouzar (30 years, 255 days) who scored on Oct. 5, 1982, against Calgary and Ilya Byakin (30 years, 277 days), who scored on Nov. 6, 1993 against St. Louis. These are the only three Oilers players to score their NHL goal at age 30 or older in franchise history.

Actor Michael J. Fox and actress Margot Robbie attended the Flyers-Rangers game at Madison Square Garden... ICYMI: Before Tuesday's Predators-Maple Leafs game at Air Canada Centre, the crowd sang the U.S. national anthem after the singer's microphone cut out during her performance... Edmonton erased a 3-1 deficit when Teddy Purcell and Boyd Gordon scored goals 11 seconds apart. That was four seconds off the franchise record set Nov. 23, 2009, when Sheldon Souray and Ales Hemsky scored seven seconds apart against the Arizona Coyotes… The game marked the return to Madison Square Garden for Flyers defenseman Michael Del Zotto. Del Zotto was a first-round pick (No. 20) by the Rangers in 2008 and spent four-plus seasons with the team.
