Avalanche's Wilson to have season-ending surgery

Colorado Avalanche defenseman Ryan Wilson is expected to have season-ending shoulder surgery Wednesday, coach Patrick Roy said.

Wilson was scoreless in three games this season before going on injured reserve. He was limited to 40 games over the previous two seasons after tying his career high with 21 points in 2011-12.

The 27-year-old has seven goals and 67 points in 230 games, all with the Avalanche.
