Los Angeles Kings defenseman Alec Martinez had surgery on a finger Friday morning, general manager Dean Lombardi said according to LAKingsInsider.com.
There was no immediate word on a timeline for the return of Martinez, a six-year NHL veteran.
Martinez, who scored the Stanley Cup-winning goal in overtime of Game 5 of the 2014 Final against the New York Rangers, skated only 11:55 in a 2-0 loss to the Dallas Stars on Thursday, taking his last shift midway through the second period.
Martinez has two goals, seven points and a plus-9 rating in 17 games this season.
