Toronto Maple Leafs forward Brandon Kozun will miss a minimum of six weeks with a high ankle sprain, coach Randy Carlyle said Monday.

Kozun was injured going into the boards in a 4-1 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Friday. He had to be helped off the ice and did not return.

The rookie has one assist in five games this season. Kozun began the season on the second line with Nazem Kadri and Joffrey Lupul, but was playing on the fourth line at the time of the injury.

He was a sixth-round pick (No. 179) in the 2009 NHL Draft by the Los Angeles Kings, but signed with the Maple Leafs this past offseason after four years with the Kings' affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs, in the American Hockey League.
