ST. LOUIS -- New York Rangers defenseman Dan Boyle will miss 4-6 weeks with a broken right hand.

Boyle was injured in the Rangers' season-opening 3-2 victory against the St. Louis Blues at Scottrade Center on Thursday.

"We lost Dan Boyle during the game," Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said. "He will probably be out 4-6 weeks, so we're going to make a change obviously on D."

Boyle, signed as a free agent over the summer, was injured when he blocked a shot by Blues center Jori Lehtera with 18:07 remaining in the third period. He left the ice and did not return.
