Forward Matt Kassian and defensemen Jamie McBain and Matt Smaby have been invited by the Arizona Coyotes to training camp scheduled for next week at Gila River Arena.

"I'm getting a lot of calls right now, and there are a lot of guys just trying to get their foot in the door," Coyotes general manager Don Maloney told The Arizona Republic. "So we're still talking about a couple other things."

Kassian had one goal, two points and 63 penalty minutes in 33 games for the Ottawa Senators. He was chosen in the second round (No. 57) by the Minnesota Wild in the 2005 NHL Draft and traded to Ottawa in 2013 for a 2014 sixth-round pick.

"Obviously, Paul Bissonnette is going elsewhere and Matt is a big, strong, tough guy," Maloney said. "He's another guy that is going to be competing for one of those roster spots."

McBain had six goals and 17 points in 69 games for the Buffalo Sabres last season. Smaby, who was selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the second round (No. 41) of the 2003 draft, spent the 2013-14 season playing for EHC Munchen in Germany. The 6-foot-5, 240-pound left-shot defender had three goals and 16 points in 42 games.
