Forward Nick Spaling and the Pittsburgh Penguins have agreed to terms on a two-year, $4.4 million contract, the team announced Thursday.

The sides were scheduled for a salary arbitration hearing in Toronto later Thursday.

The 25-year-old was acquired by the Penguins from the Nashville Predators on June 28, along with forward Patric Hornqvist, in a trade for forward James Neal.

Spaling had career-bests of 13 goals and 32 points in 71 games with the Predators last season.

A 2007 second-round pick (No. 58) of the Predators, Spaling has 40 goals and 84 points in 297 NHL games, all with Nashville.
