Defenseman Mark Cundari signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Calgary Flames, the team announced Saturday.

Cundari, an undrafted player, appeared in four regular-season games with the Flames last season. He had six shots on goal, 10 hits and four blocks averaging 10:46 of ice time. The native of Woodbridge, Ontario had nine goals and 23 points in 56 games with the Abbotsford Heat and Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League.

The Flames acquired Cundari, a two-time Memorial Cup champion with the Windsor Spitfires, goalie Reto Berra and a first-round pick in the NHL Draft from the St. Louis Blues for defenseman Jay Bouwmeester on April 1, 2013.

He made his NHL debut 20 days later, and had a goal and an assist against the Minnesota Wild. Cundari has one goal and three points in eight NHL games.
