The Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday re-signed center Riley Sheahan to a two-year contract.

Financial terms were not disclosed by the Red Wings, but multiple reports have the 22-year-old forward signing for $1.9 million over the two years.

Sheahan, recalled from the team's American Hockey League affiliate in Grand Rapids midway through the 2013-14 season, had nine goals, 15 assists and a plus-6 rating in 42 regular-season games for the Red Wings. Detroit coach Mike Babcock considers Sheahan a reliable two-way performer alongside fellow youngsters Tomas Tatar and Tomas Jurco.

Sheahan, selected in the first round (No. 21) by the Red Wings in the 2010 NHL Draft, also played in five games during the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs and was scoreless.
