New Jersey Devils defenseman Mark Fayne had successful surgery Tuesday on the "core muscle of his left groin," president and general manager Lou Lamoriello said.
Fayne will need a rehabilitation period of eight to 10 weeks.
"Just a normal groin situation," Lamoriello told The Star-Ledger. "The eight-to-10 weeks is total rehab."
The 26-year-old had four goals and 11 points in 72 games this season. He completed a two-year, $2.6 million contract and can become an unrestricted free agent July 1.
