Rupp suspended four games for illegal check to head

NEW YORK – Minnesota Wild forward Mike Rupp has been suspended for four games, without pay, for a late illegal check to the head of St. Louis Blues forward T.J. Oshie during NHL Game No. 1201 in Minnesota on Thursday, April 10, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

The suspension includes the Wild's final regular-season game and first three Stanley Cup Playoff games.

The incident occurred at 10:30 of the second period. Rupp was assessed a match penalty for attempt to injure.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, Rupp will forfeit $7,692.31. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
