Miller has bounced back and forth between Hartford and New York all season. This is the sixth time he's joined the Rangers. He has three goals and six points in 28 games for New York and 37 points (12 goals) in 35 games at the AHL level.
Miller was a first-round pick (No. 15) in the 2011 NHL Draft and the 21-year-old Ohio native remains the franchise's top forward prospect. He could be inserted into the lineup Wednesday night against the Philadelphia Flyers in place of forward Chris Kreider, who could be out a month or more with a hand injury, as reported by Bob McKenzie of TSN on Tuesday.
Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said Wednesday morning the team does not know how long Kreider will be out, but he will not travel with the team when it leaves for a four-game road trip to Western Canada that starts Friday in Calgary.
