Moulson was one of the top players expected to be available on NHL Trade Deadline day. He has 17 goals and 38 points in 55 games this season, which began with the New York Islanders before he was traded to the Sabres as part of a deal for Thomas Vanek in late October.
'I think the rumors out there had me traded about 300 times before the time I even got to Buffalo," Moulson told the Wild website Wednesday. "It's tough not to look at, but I'm extremely happy I ended up in Minnesota and thankful [for] everything the Sabres did for me this year, but it's great to be a part of the Wild."
A 30-year-old left wing, Moulson is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. He had 11 goals and 29 points in 44 games with the Sabres after spending nearly his entire career playing next to John Tavares with the Islanders.
“Matt Moulson is a good hockey player," Wild general manager Chuck Fletcher said. "He's scored goals in this League; he's an intelligent player. He moves the puck well, he's gritty, he gets to the front of the net.
“He's a guy we think will thrive in the playoff drive that we’re undergoing now, and if we’re able to get into the playoffs, he'll help us there."
McCormick, who turns 31 next month, has one goal and five points in 29 games for the Sabres. He is scheduled to be a UFA at the end of the season.
"[McCormick's] a hard-nose player," Moulson said. "He's responsible defensively, a great penalty-killer, and he'll do anything for his teammates and his team. ... He's a great teammate."
Mitchell, 29, has one year left on his contract with an average annual value of $1.9 million. He has one goal and nine points in 58 games this season.
Entering play Wednesday, Minnesota was in seventh place in the Western Conference.
"We weren't prepared to give up our top prospects or first-round picks," Fletcher said. "But I felt if we could move anything else to help our team this year and to show our team that we believe in them -- to reward them for what they've done in the last two months in particular -- I felt was very important."
