Cliche, who was claimed off waivers from the Los Angeles Kings prior to the 2013-14 season, has one goal and six points in 53 games. He leads the Avalanche in shorthanded ice time per game, averaging 2:35 on the penalty kill.
"Marc-Andre has been a solid addition to our hockey club," Avalanche executive vice president of hockey operations Joe Sakic said. "He has done a tremendous job on the penalty kill, has a great work ethic and we're excited to have him under contract for the next two years."
The 26-year-old was a second-round pick (No. 56) of the New York Rangers in the 2005 NHL Draft and played in one game prior to this season for the Kings.
