"We'll see where he is in a day or so," coach Ken Hitchcock said after the Blues' 2-1 victory at Madison Square Garden. "He'll be back."
The injury appeared to occur with 8:09 remaining in the second period when Steen was pushed by defenseman Dan Girardi and fell awkwardly into the boards near the right corner of the Rangers zone. Steen played three more shifts after the hit before being declared out at the start of the third period.
Steen scored his team-leading 26th goal in the first period and appeared to be recapturing his scoring form with goals in consecutive games. That gave him two goals in four games since returning from a concussion that kept him out of the lineup for 11 games. The Blues went 8-2-1 during his absence.
In 39 games this season, Steen has a career-high 26 goals and 42 points, his highest total since he had 51 in 72 games in 2010-11.
