Tom McCollum makes 35 saves as Grand Rapids blanks Abbotsford 3-0

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Tom McCollum made 35 saves for his second shutout of the season as the Grand Rapids Griffins blanked the Abbotsford Heat 3-0 in American Hockey League action on Friday night.

Mitch Callahan, David McIntyre and Landon Ferraro scored for the Midwest division-leading Griffins (27-10-3), who have won three in a row. Adam Almquist chipped in with two assists.

Joey McDonald stopped 29 shots for Abbotsford (25-14-2) in the losing effort.

Both teams failed to score on two power-play chances.

McIntyre put Grand Rapids on the board with his fourth goal of the season at 18:25 of the opening period.

Callahan, who has scored three goals in his last five games, added his 16th of the campaign at 13:03 of the second, and Ferraro sealed the victory with his eighth goal of the season at 11:16 of the third period.
