SAN JOSE, Calif. - The Boston Bruins have activated forward Loui Eriksson from injured reserve and assigned Justin Florek to Providence of the American Hockey League.

The Bruins made the move Saturday before playing the San Jose Sharks.

Eriksson missed 15 games after a sustaining a concussion against Pittsburgh on Dec. 7 when he was hit by Brooks Orpik. Teammate Shawn Thornton retaliated later in that game by slew-footing Orpik to the ice and punching him twice. Thornton was suspended for 15 games and is also making his return against the Sharks.

Eriksson has five goals and nine assists in 24 games this season.

Thornton has three goals in 27 games.
