San Jose Sharks forward Tomas Hertl underwent successful surgery Tuesday in Cleveland to repair damage to his right medial collateral ligament and posterior cruciate ligament.

General manager Doug Wilson said in a statement that Hertl is expected to make a full recovery, but that there is no immediate timetable for his return to the lineup.

Hertl was injured Dec. 19 in a knee-on-knee collision with Los Angeles Kings captain Dustin Brown.

The 20-year-old leads all NHL rookies with 15 goals and 25 points in 35 games.
