CALGARY -- Carolina Hurricanes forward Elias Lindholm left in the first period of the game against the Calgary Flames on Thursday after a hard hit by Calgary defenseman Mark Giordano. He did not return.

Giordano checked Lindholm in front of the Flames bench at 7:53 of the first. Lindholm immediately skated to the Hurricanes bench before walking off to the dressing room. The rookie finished with 2:57 of ice time.

Lindholm, the fifth pick at the 2013 NHL Draft, missed five games earlier this season with an upper-body injury. He has three goals and seven points in 21 games.
