QMJHL Roundup: Voltigeurs scores four times in third period to defeat Pheonix

DRUMMONDVILLE, Que. - The Drummondville Voltigeurs scored four times in the third period as they came from behind to defeat the visiting Sherbrooke Pheonix 6-4 on Saturday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League play.

Frederick Gaudreau scored twice, and Nikolas Brouillard and Jerome Verrier scored in the final 20 minutes for the Voltigeurs (17-10-2), who trailed 3-2 after two periods, while Verrier tacked on two assists for a three-point performance. Christophe Lalancette and Guillame Gauthier added a goal and an assist apiece for Drummondville, which is 4-0-1 in its last five contests.

Nathan Glass, Dominic Talbot-Tassi, Jason Houde and Jean-Francois Plante scored for the Pheonix (11-16-2) and Jeremy Roy chipped in with three assists.

Drummondville's Louis-Philip Guindon made 18 saves for the win as Sherbrooke's Gabriel Parent gave up six goals on 36 shots.

The Voltigeurs went 2 for 4 on the power play while the Pheonix scored twice on eight chances with the man advantage.

FOREURS 6 WILDCATS 2

MONCTON, N.B. — Francois Tremblay stopped 40-of-42 shots as Val'd-Or downed the Wildcats for its third win in a row.

Guillaume Gelinas scored twice for the Foreurs (18-11-0) while Anthany Mantha, Louick Marcotte and Samuel Henley had a goal and an assist apiece. Nicolas Aube-Kubel also scored for Val-d'Or, which was 2 for 3 on the power play.

Conor Garland and JC Campagna scored for Moncton (12-17-2) and Ivan Barbashev assisted on both.

Alex Dubeau picked up the loss for the Wildcats after giving up four goals on 18 shots through 40 minutes. Graham Hunt replaced Dubeau to start the third period and stopped 8-of-10 shots in relief.

HUSKIES 5 SEA DOGS 3

SAINT JOHN, N.B. — Jean-Sebastien Dea scored twice and Marcus Power had three assists as Rouyn-Noranda toppled the Sea Dogs.

Dillon Fournier had a goal and two assists for the Huskies (17-9-3), who are 5-0-1 in their last six outings, while Mathieu Lemay and Jason Fuchs added a goal apiece.

Nathan Noel and Noah Zilbert each had a goal and an assist for Saint John (8-19-3) and Oliver Cooper scored once.

Rouyn-Noranda's Steven Veilleux made 26 saves for the win as Sebastien Auger turned aside 38 shots for the Sea Dogs.

BOISBRIAND, Que. — The Armada opened up a four-goal lead en route to defeating Baie-Comeau.

Daniel Walcott, Emil Aronsson, Philippe Sanche and Danick Martel made it 4-0 for Blainville-Boisbriand (21-3-4) midway through the third period before giving up two late goals.

Valentin Zykov and Nicolas Meloche scored for the Drakkar (18-7-4), with both goals coming on the power play.

Etienne Marcoux made 25 saves for the Armada while Baie-Comeau's Philippe Cadorette stopped 19-of-23 shots in a losing cause.

CATARACTES 3 OLYMPIQUES 2

GATINEAU, Que. — Francis Beauvillier scored twice, including the winner, as Shawinigan edged the Olympiques to end a seven-game winless streak.

Alexandre Grand-Maison and Beauvillier scored 28 seconds apart late in the first period to give the Cataractes (4-21-3) a 2-0 lead and Beauvillier added the eventual winner late in the second period.

Emile Poirier and Vincent Dunn scored for Gatineau (20-10-0) and Martin Reway assisted on both.

Shawinigan's Marvin Cupper made 25 saves for the win while Robert Steeves stopped 20-of-23 shots for the Olympiques.
