Abbotsford Heat wins for the 10th time 11 games, beats Rockford 4-2

ROCKFORD, Ill. - The red-hot Abbotsford Heat won for the 10th time in 11 games, as they edged the Rockford IceHogs 4-2 in American Hockey League play on Wednesday.

Michael Ferland scored what proved to be the winning goal in the third period. Ben Hanowski, Paul Byron and Brett Olson added the other Abbotsford (15-5-1) goals, while Joey MacDonald made 28 saves.

Hanowski opened the scoring on the power play at 14:33 of the first period. Byron made it 2-0 at 1:29 of the second period before Ferland and Olson added two in the third.

Drew LeBlanc and Viktor Svedberg replied for the IceHogs (9-9-1), and Kent Simpson stopped 24-of-27 shots.
