WHL Roundup: Broncos score six times in third period to beat Blades

SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. - The Swift Current Broncos scored six times in the third period, including three goals in the first three minutes, to come from behind and defeat the Saskatoon Blades 7-6 on Friday in Western Hockey League action.

Graham Black and Connor Sanvido each scored twice for the Broncos (10-8-1), who trailed 5-1 after 40 minutes of play, while Black tacked on two assists for a four-point outing.

Julius Honka, Jay Merkley and Coda Gordon had a goal and an assist apiece to round out Swift Current's offence.

Matt Revel scored three goals for the Blades (7-10-2), who have lost four games in a row. Collin Valcourt had two goals and two assists and Nathan Burns scored once.

Landon Bow started in net for Swift Current but was pulled after allowing four goals on 18 shots. Eetu Laurikainen replaced Bow and made 14 saves for the victory. Alex Trombley stopped 41-of-48 shots for Saskatoon.

Swift Current went 0 for 4 on the power play while Saskatoon scored three times on four chances with the man advantage.

AMERICANS 8 HURRICANES 1

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. — Jessy Astles had two goals and two assists as Tri-City crushed the Hurricanes.

Devon McAndrews and Marcus Messier each had a goal and two assists for the Americans (9-8-2) while Ty Comrie, Philip Tot, Brian Williams and Parker Bowles scored the others.

Kolten Olynek scored the lone goal for Lethbridge (2-12-3), which is winless in its last five games.

Tri-City's Eric Comrie made 25 saves while Corbin Boes took the loss for the Hurricanes after giving up three goals on seven shots in eight minutes of action. Christopher Tai replaced Boes and stopped 27-of-32 shots in relief.

RAIDERS 3 WARRIORS 2 (OT)

MOOSE JAW, Sask. — Dakota Conroy scored 2:53 into overtime as Prince Albert came from behind to defeat the Warriors.

MacKenzie Johnston forced overtime with a goal at 16:47 of the third period while Leon Draisaitl scored in the first period for the Raiders (11-6-1).

Sam Fioretti opened the scoring for Moose Jaw (6-9-4) and Torrin White added a go-ahead goal at 6:34 of the third.

Nick McBride stopped 35 shots for Prince Albert. Justin Paulic made 28 saves for the Warriors, who dropped their third straight game.

KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Brett Kulak scored the shootout winner as Vancouver edged the Blazers.

Dalton Thrower, Thomas Foster and Blake Orban scored in regulation for the Giants (7-10-2) while Carter Popoff had two assists.

Nick Chyzowski scored twice for Kamloops (5-10-2) and Collin Shirley added a single goal.

Payton Lee made 33 saves for Vancouver as Bolton Pouliot turned away 29 shots for the Blazers.

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. — Jackson Whistle turned back 29 shots as Kelowna beat the Cougars for its fourth straight victory.

Madison Bowey, Zach Franko, Kris Schmidli and Ryan Olsen scored for the Rockets (11-2-0) and Damon Severson tacked on two assists.

Carson Bolduc supplied the scoring for Prince George (7-9-4).

Cougars' netminder Brett Zarowny stopped 36-of-39 shots in a losing cause.

EVERETT, Wash. — Daniel Cotton only had to make 16 saves and Joshua Winquist scored twice as the Silvertips blanked Seattle.

Ben Betker, Carson Stadnyk and Ivan Nikolishin each had a goal and an assist for Everett (11-3-2).

Seth Swenson was a team-worst minus-3 for the Thunderbirds (11-5-0) and Jaimen Yakubowski dropped the gloves twice.

Seattle's Danny Mumaugh stopped 30 shots in defeat.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Nicolas Petan set up all three of his club's goals, extending his points streak to 10 games, as Portland downed the Chiefs for its 11th win in a row.

Paul Bittner, Alex Schoenborn and Oliver Bjorkstrand scored for the Winterhawks (14-3-1).

Cole Hedman scored for Spokane (12-5-0) while Mitch Holmberg had his 17-game point streak snapped.

Portland's Brendan Burke made 30 saves for the win as Eric Williams 26 shots for the Chiefs.

VICTORIA — The Royals scored two power-play goals in the first period en route to beating Red Deer.

Austin Carroll and Logan Nelson scored with the man advantage for Victoria (10-8-1) and Tyler Soy added an even-strength goal in the second period.

Cole Chorney produced the only goal for the Rebels (7-9-1).

Patrik Polivka made 27 saves for the Royals as Patrik Bartosak turned aside 32-of-35 shots for Red Deer.
