CALGARY - The Calgary Flames could be without their captain for the next two months.

The team says defenceman Mark Giordano will be sidelined for six to eight weeks with a broken ankle.

It's a big blow to the 5-4-2 Flames. Giordano had a strong start to the season, recording two goals and seven assists in eight games.

He hasn't played since Oct. 21 but the team had been vague about the injury until today.

The team also says winger Lee Stempniak is week to week with a broken foot while defenceman Chris Breen is day to day with an abdominal strain.
