Schneider, who is 1-3-1 with a 2.21 goals-against average and .917 save percentage in five starts this season for the Devils, made 29 saves in a 3-2 loss to the Canucks on Oct. 8 in Vancouver. The 27-year-old Schneider was acquired by the Devils in a trade with the Canucks on June 30 at the NHL Draft.
The Devils on Wednesday recalled defenseman Eric Gelinas from the team's American Hockey League affiliate, the Albany Devils. The move was necessary after captain Bryce Salvador left for Lethbridge, Alberta on Wednesday morning after learning of a death in his family.
Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello told The (Bergen) Record there is no timeframe for when Salvador will return but he will not play in the game Thursday against Vancouver. Gelinas' other NHL appearance was last April 25 against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Devils forward Patrik Elias, who has missed the past two games with an illness, did not participate in practice Wednesday. Lamoriello told The (Bergen) Record the team will determine if Elias is fit to play Thursday following the morning skate.
"I talked to [Elias] this morning and I'm very optimistic," DeBoer told reporters Wednesday.
