Mooseheads score two short-handed goals in 5-2 win over Screaming Eagles

HALIFAX - Zachary Fucale made 38 saves and the Halifax Mooseheads scored five unanswered goals in a 7-3 win over the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League play Tuesday.

William Carrier opened the scoring for Cape Breton (6-4-2), but Andrew Ryan tied the game and Brent Andrews put the Mooseheads (8-6-0) in front for good with a short-handed goal at 13:49 of the second period.

Luca Ciampini made it 3-1 with a power-play goal in the third period, and Darcy Ashley added to the lead with the Mooseheads' second short-handed goal of the game.

Andrew Shewfelt made it 5-1, before Charles-Eric Legare closed the gap for Cape Breton with a power-play goal at 14:52.

Ryan, with his second goal, and an empty netter by Nikolaj Ehlers rounded out the scoring for Halifax.

Cameron Darcy also scored for Cape Breton.

Halifax goalie Zachary Fucale was kept busy, making 38 stops.

Alex Bureau made 22 saves for Cape Breton.
