Fox scores two goals, leads Otters to 7-0 road blowout of Steelheads

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. - Dane Fox scored twice and Joel Wigle had a goal and two assists as the Erie Otters hammered the Mississauga Steelheads 7-0 in Ontario Hockey League action Monday.

Connor McDavid added a goal and an assist for Erie (7-2-1), while Stephen Harper, Jake Evans and Nick Betz also scored in the only OHL game of the afternoon not to go to extra time.

Connor Brown had two assists to give him a league-best 22 points (nine goals, 13 assists) on the season. Spencer Abraham and Adam Pelech also had two helpers.

Oscar Dansk made 19 saves for the shutout.

Spencer Martin started in goal for Mississauga (5-5-0) allowed four goals on 10 shots before giving way to Dawson Carty, who stopped 24 of 27 shots in relief.

Fox started the rout early with a goal 31 seconds into the dame, then added another on a power-play at 9:02 of the first.

Harper and Wigle scored 18 seconds apart to start the second period, ending Martin's night and essentially putting the game out of reach.

Erie was 1-for-5 on the power play. Mississauga was 0-for-7

Rangers 3 Knights 2 (OT)

KITCHENER, Ont. — Evan McEneny scored a power-play goal 15 seconds into overtime as the Rangers edged London.

Darby Llewellyn and Radek Faksa also scored for Kitchener (4-4-0).

Josh Anderson and Chris Tierney had the goals for London (7-1-1).

Tyson Teichmann stopped 27 shots for the Rangers, while Anthony Stolarz made 36 saves for London.

Spirit 2 Generals 1 (SO)

OSHAWA, Ont. — Kristoff Kontos scored the shootout winner to lead Saginaw over Oshawa.

Dylan Sadowy scored in regulation for Saginaw (5-4-2).

Michael Dal Colle replied for Oshawa (7-2-1).

Jake Paterson made 32 saves for Saginaw, while Daniel Altshuller stopped 24 shots for Oshawa.

Battalion 5 IceDogs 4 (SO)

NORTH BAY, Ont. — Barclay Goodrow scored the shootout winner as the Battalion edged Niagara.

Mike Amadio had a goal and an assist for North Bay (6-6-0), while Brett McKenzie, Mathew Santos and Steven Duda also scored.

Brendan Perlini had two goals for Niagara (3-4-2). Aleksandar Mikulovich and Carter Verhaeghe had the other goals.

Jake Smith made 33 saves for the Battalion. Christopher Festarini stopped 24 shots for the IceDogs.
