SYDNEY, N.S. - William Carrier scored 52 seconds into overtime as the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles came from behind to beat the undefeated Blainville-Boisbriand Armada 5-4 on Sunday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.
Cape Breton trailed 4-2 late in the third period before Jeremy Beaudry scored back-to-back goals to force overtime.
Bradley Lalonde and Justin Hache also scored for the Screaming Eagles (6-3-2) while Carrier chipped in two assists for a three-point outing.
Maxime Lagace made 14 saves for his third victory of the season. Samuel Montembeault stopped 21 of 26 shots in defeat.
Cape Breton went 3-for-4 on the power play while Blainville-Boisbriand failed to score on five chances with the man advantage.
Despite their first loss of the season, the Armada still sit atop the QMJHL standings.
Islanders 4 Sea Dogs 1
Saint John, N.B. — Eric Brassard stopped 38 shots as Charlottetown beat the Sea Dogs.
Daniel Sprong, Jack Nevins, Alexandre Goulet and Yan Pavel Laplante scored for the Islanders (8-2-1) while Kameron Kielly and Kevin Laliberte chipped in two assists apiece.
Olivier LeBlanc scored the lone goal for Saint John (5-5-1), which has dropped back-to-back contests.
Sebastien Auger turned aside 35 of 38 shots in defeat.
Remparts 4 Wildcats 2
QUEBEC CITY — Nick Sorensen scored once and set up two more as the Remparts doubled up Moncton.
Ivan Barbashev and Christopher Caissy had a goal apiece for the Wildcats (5-8-0).
Francois Brassard made 21 saves for the win as Alex Dubeau turned away 32 shots in a losing cause.
Drakkar 8 Titan 1
BAIE-COMEAU, Que. — Alexis Vanier and Jeremy Gregoire each scored twice as the Drakkar crushed Acadie-Bathurst.
Adam Stevens scored the lone goal for the Titan (4-7-1).
Philippe Cadorette made 29 saves for the win. Jacob Brennan took the loss after giving up six goals on 40 shots in 42 minutes of action. Miguel Sullivan replaced Brennan and stopped 8-of-10 shots in relief.
Olympiques 3 Sagueneens 2
CHICOUTIMI, Que. — Emile Poirier's goal 30 seconds into the third period stood up as the winner as Gatineau squeezed past the Sagueneens.
Charles Hudon scored once for Chicoutimi (6-6-0) and set up Victor Provencher's goal as well.
Robert Steeves made 40 saves for the win as Julio Billia turned away 27 shots in a losing effort.
Oceanic 5 Cataractes 1
RIMOUSKI, Que. — Frederik Gauthier scored his first goal of the season and added two assists as the Oceanic toppled Shawinigan.
Frederick Gaudreau scored for Shawinigan (0-8-2), which is the only club remaining in the QMJHL without a victory.
Alex St-Pierre made 30 saves for the win as Storm Phaneuf stopped 24 shots in defeat.
