WHL Roundup: Hawryluk scores in regulation and shootout, Wheat Kings edge Warriors

BRANDON, Man. - Jayce Hawryluk and Richard Nejezchleb scored in the shootout as the Brandon Wheat Kings edged the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors 3-2 on Friday in Western Hockey League action.

Hawryluk had a goal and an assist in regulation for the Wheat Kings (5-3-0) while John Quenneville also produced a goal and an assist.

Tanner Eberle and Torrin White scored for the Warriors (4-4-1) as Sam Fioretti assisted on both.

Curtis Honey made 27 saves for the win as Justin Paulic turned away 39 shots in a losing cause.

Brandon went 1 for 5 on the power play while Moose Jaw scored twice on six chances with the man advantage.

Late games in the WHL include, Swift Current at Saskatoon, Everett at Prince George, Seattle at Kelowna, Kamloops at Tri-City and Lethbridge at Victoria.

Oill Kings 4 Chiefs 1

EDMONTON — Curtis Lazar scored twice and set up another as the Oil Kings downed Spokane.

Edgars Kulda and Mitchell Moroz scored for Edmonton (4-5-0) while Riley Kieser chipped in with two assists.

Mike Aviani supplied the offence for the Chiefs (6-2-0).

Tristan Jarry made 16 saves for the win as Eric WIlliam stopped 27-of-30 shots in defeat.

Rebels 4 Raiders 3 (OT)

RED DEER, Alta. — Matt Bellerive scored the winner and added two assists as the Rebels edged Prince Albert.

Conner Bleackley also had a goal and two assists for Red Deer (6-4-0) as Brady Guadet and Rhyse Dieno each scored once.

Josh Morrissey and Leon Draisaitl each had a goal and an assist for the Raiders (6-2-1) and Sawyer Lange scored once.

Patrik Bartosak made 41 saves for the win. Cole Cheveldave stopped 32 shots in a losing cause.

Pats 5 Giants 4 (OT)

REGINA — Boston Leier scored three times, including the winner, as the Pats slipped past Vancouver.

Dyson Stevenson had a pair of goals for Regina (3-5-0) while Kyle Burroughs had four assists.

Brett Kulak, Alex Baer, Joel Hamilton and Dalton Thrower scored for the Giants (1-6-1).

Dawson MacAuley made 26 saves for the win as Payton Lee stopped 12 shots in defeat.
