He'll take the place of Ben Bishop, who suffered a lower-body injury in a 7-2 victory against the Florida Panthers on Thursday night. Coach Jon Cooper said Bishop is day-to-day and will be evaluated again on Saturday.
"He got banged up at some point during the game Thursday," Cooper told the team's website. "It wasn’t something that was a major cause for concern because he said he was fine during the game. Through the course of the night I think things tightened up on him."
Anders Lindback is likely to start in Saturday night's home game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, with Desjardins as his backup. Lindback hasn't played since the Lightning's season-opener, a 3-0 road loss to the Boston Bruins. Bishop was in goal for the next three games, all Lightning victories.
