OHL Roundup: Oshawa Generals seige Peterborough Petes in 7-1 victory

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - The Oshawa Generals scored seven unanswered goals in a 7-1 win over the Peterborough Petes in Ontario Hockey League play Thursday.

Josh Sterk and Scott Laughton each scored twice for Oshawa (3-2-0), while Bradley Latour, Cole Cassels and Hunter Smith had singles.

Jonatan Tatus gave Peterborough (3-2-0) its first and last lead 5:30 into the first period.

Daniel Altshuller made 26 saves for Oshawa, while Michael Giugovaz allowed all seven goals on 42 shots.

GREYHOUNDS 4 67'S 1

OTTAWA — Scoring first wasn't much of an advantage for the 67's.

Sault Ste. Marie (3-0-1) rebounded from an early deficit with goals from Andrew Fritsch, Jared McCann, Patrick Watling and Tyler Gaudet.

Travis Konecny gave Ottawa (2-3-0) a 1-0 lead at 8:39 in the first period.

Greyhounds goaltender Matt Murray finished with 31 saves, while at the other end of the ice Philippe Trudeau stopped 29 shots.

ICEDOGS 4 BATTALION 2

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. — Niagara scored three unanswered goals to down North Bay.

Luke Mercer, Brook Hiddink, Brendan Perlini and Carter Verhaeghe scored for the IceDogs (1-3-1).

Brandon Robinson and Matt MacLeod had singles for the Battalion (4-3-0).

Christopher Festarini earned the win with 27 saves in Niagara's net. Jake Smith stopped 24 shots for North Bay.

SPITFIRES 5 WHALERS 1

WINDSOR, Ont. — Ben Johnson scored a hat trick, including a short-handed goal, as the Spitfires overwhelmed Plymouth.

Ryan Moore and Brady Vail also scored for Windsor (2-2-0).

The Whalers' (2-4-0) lone goal came shorthanded on a penalty shot by Ryan Hartman.

Dalen Kuchmey made 21 saves for the Spitfires. Alex Nedeljkovic was far busier for Plymouth, letting in all five goals on 42 shots.
