The Carolina Hurricanes traded forwards Zac Dalpe and Jeremy Welsh to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for forward Kellan Tochkin and a fourth-round choice in the 2014 NHL Draft.

Dalpe, 23, was Carolina's second-round pick in the 2008 NHL Draft. He spent most of the past three seasons with the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League, but has five goals and 10 points in 41 games during brief stints with the Hurricanes during each of those seasons.

Welsh, 25, was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Hurricanes in April 2012 after three seasons at Union College and made his NHL debut in Carolina's season finale. He had 14 goals and 26 points in 69 games with Charlotte last season and one assist in five games with Carolina.

Tochkin, 22, had 15 goals, 44 points and 61 penalty minutes in 56 games with the Missouri Mavericks of the Central Hockey League in 2012-13. He was originally signed by Vancouver as an undrafted free agent on July 27, 2009. Tochkin had 91 goals and 243 points in 253 games with three teams in the Western Hockey League before turning pro.
