WHL Roundup: Bartosak makes 32 saves as Red Deer Rebels double up Kootenay Ice

CRANBROOK, B.C. - Patrik Bartosak stopped 32 shots as the Red Deer Rebels doubled up the host Kooteny Ice 4-2 on Friday in Western Hockey League play.

Adam Musil and Grayson Pawlenchuk had a goal and an assist apiece for the Rebels (1-0-0), who overcame a 2-1 score by finding the back of the net three times in the third period, while Haydn Fleury and Lukas Sutter had the others.

Jagger Dirk and Sam Reinhart each scored for the Ice (0-1-0) as Mackenzie Skapski turned aside 38 shots in a losing cause.

Red Deer went 1 for 5 on the power play while Kootenay failed to score on three chances with the man advantage.

Also in the WHL, it was: Brandon 6 Moose Jaw 3 and Prince Albert 6 Saskatoon 1.

Late games included: Calgary at Edmonton, Medicine Hat at Lethbridge, Kelowna at Kamloops, Prince George at Portland and Victoria at Vancouver.

Wheat Kings 6 Warriors 3

MOOSE JAW, Sask. — Taylor Cooper scored three times and Jens Meiller had a goal and two assists as Brandon doubled up the Warriors.

Richard Nejezchleb and Ryley Lindgren also scored for the Wheat Kings (1-0-0) as Curtis Honey stopped 36 shots for the win.

Brandon Potomak, Brayden Point and Jack Rodewald supplied the offence for Moose Jaw (0-1-0) as Justin Paulic made 27 saves in a losing cause.

Raiders 6 Blades 1

SASKATOON— Cole Cheveldave made 35 saves and Jayden Hart scored twice as Prince Albert defeated the Blades.

Mike Winther had a goal and two assists for the Raiders (1-0-0) while Dakota Conroy, Reid Gardiner and Gage Quinney each scored once.

Collin Valcourt scored the lone goal for Saskatoon (0-1-0) and Alex Moodie picked up the loss after allowing six goals on 26 shots through 40 minutes of action. Troy Trombley replaced Moodie to start the third and stopped all 12 shots he faced in relief.
