The Florida Panthers will open training camp later this week without their backup goaltender.

Panthers general manager Dale Tallon told reporters Sunday that goalie Scott Clemmensen will miss three weeks after undergoing a minor knee procedure.

Clemmensen, 36, appeared in 19 games for the Panthers last season. He went 3-7-2 with a 3.67 goals-against average and .874 save percentage.

Jacob Markstrom, the Panthers' second-round pick (No. 31) at the 2008 NHL Draft, is set to become Florida's starting goaltender after the team declined to re-sign veteran Jose Theodore.

With Clemmensen out, Michael Houser could see increased playing time during the preseason. The undrafted 20-year-old spent last season with the Cincinnati Cyclones in the ECHL.
