Coyotes sign forward Yip to one-year contract

The Phoenix Coyotes added depth up front by signing forward Brandon Yip to a one-year, two-way contract. No financial terms were disclosed.

Yip spent the 2012-13 season with the Nashville Predators, scoring three goals and finishing with eight points and 26 penalty minutes in 34 games. He has 29 goals, 56 points and 130 penalty minutes in 172 NHL games with the Predators and Colorado Avalanche.

Yip was selected by Colorado in the eighth round (No. 239) of the 2004 NHL Draft. He turned pro in the fall of 2009 after helping Boston University win the NCAA championship in April of that year.
