The Washington Capitals on Wednesday announced the team had signed forward Joel Rechlicz to a one-year, two-way contract extension. Terms of the deal were not released.
Rechlicz last played in the NHL during the 2011-12 season, when he had 10 penalty minutes in three games.
He spent 2012-13 in the American Hockey League, totaling 154 penalty minutes in 40 games with the Portland Pirates and Hershey Bears.
The 26-year-old center has one assist, a minus-3 rating and 105 penalty minutes in 26 NHL games in parts of three seasons the New York Islanders and Capitals.
