Forward Paul Carey leads Lake Erie Monsters past Hamilton Bulldogs 3-2

CLEVELAND - Paul Carey's second-period power-play goal stood as the winner as the Lake Erie Monsters fended off the Hamilton Bulldogs 3-2 on Saturday in American Hockey League play.

Jamie MacQueen and Tomas Vincour also scored for Lake Erie (34-30-10), while Calvin Pickard made 23 saves for the win.

Michael Bournival and Petteri Nokelainen replied for Hamilton (28-38-6) in the second period. Robert Mayer stopped 18 shots for the Bulldogs.

Nokelainen scored on the power play, while Bournival's was a short-handed goal.

The Monsters went 1 for 6 on the power play, while Hamilton scored once on five man advantages.
