KINGSTON, Ont. - Mitchell Theoret scored twice and set up two more as the Barrie Colts eliminated the Kingston Frontenacs from Ontario Hockey League playoff action with an 8-2 victory on Wednesday.
Aaron Ekblad, Cody Brown and Erik Bradford scored for Barrie, which outscored Kingston 22-9 in the series.
Darcy Greenaway scored both goals for the Frontenacs, who lost at home in front of 2905 fans.
Mathias Niederberger made 35 saves for the win as Mike Morrison picked up the loss after allowing six goals on 23 shots before getting pulled in the second period. Colin Furlong replaced Morrison and stopped 12-of-14 shots in 23 minutes of relief.
Barrie went 2 for 4 on the power play while Kingston failed to score on three chances with the man advantage.
The Colts are the first team in the Eastern Conference to qualify for second-round action and will have to wait for each of the other three series to wrap up before they will know who they face.
