Szwarz scores twice, Visentin makes 31 saves as Pirates beat IceCaps 5-2

PORTLAND, Maine - The Portland Pirates scored four straight goals after falling behind 1-0, and defeated the St. John's IceCaps 5-2 in AHL action on Friday.

Centre Aaron Gagnon opened the scoring for St. John's at 11:51 of the first period, and Alexandre Bolduc tied it for Portland 16:37 of the period with his 23rd goal of the season.

Jordan Szwarz scored on a penalty shot at 4:15 of the second period, and Chris Brown made it 3-1 Portland with a power play goal, his 24th of the season, before the period was out.

Andy Miele gave the Pirates a 4-1 lead 5:25 into the third period. Eric O'Dell cut the IceCaps margin to 4-2 with a power play goal at 9:01, his 22nd of the season. Szwarz put the game out of reach with his second goal of the game, and 11 of the season, at 11:45 of the final period.

Mark Visentin made 31 saves for Portland, and Mark Dekanich made 24 stops for St. John's.

The IceCaps were 1 for 8 on the power play, while the Pirates finished 1 for 3.
