Ness scores twice, Dieno gets three assists in Rebels 6-4 win over Ice

RED DEER, Alta. - Tyson Ness scored twice and Rhyse Dieno picked up three assists as the Red Deer Rebels defeated the Kootenay Ice 6-4 in WHL action Tuesday.

Matt Bellerive, Brooks Maxwell, Mathew Dumba and Cody Thiel also scored for Red Deer (37-24-6).

Jaedon Descheneau, with two goals, Levi Cable and Joey Leach replied for Kootenay (33-31-2-0).

Patrik Bartosak made 30 saves for the Rebels.

Mackenzie Skapski started in the Ice goal and stopped 25 of 30 shots before being replaced at the start of the third period by Wyatt Hoflin, who blocked 12 of 13.

Bellerive opened the scoring for the Rebels at 5:09 of the first period, and Descheneau tied it 23 seconds later.

Maxwell put Red Deer back in front 29 seconds into the second period, and Cable tied it less than two minutes later. The teams then swapped power play goals, with Ness putting the Rebels in front 3-2, and Leach tying it for Kootenay. Red Deer got two more goals before the period was out from Dumba and Ness, to take a 5-3 lead.

Thiel made it 6-3 Rebels at 13:18 of the third period, and Descheneau scored a power play goal for Kootenay 17:58.
