Sabres' forward Kaleta suspended five games for boarding in loss to Rangers

NEW YORK, N.Y. - The NHL has suspended Buffalo Sabres forward Patrick Kaleta for five games without pay for a boarding incident last weekend.

Kaleta shoved New York forward Brad richards into the boards from behind at 3:38 of the third period of the Rangers' 3-2 overtime win on Sunday. Kaleta was assessed a major penalty for checking from behind and game misconduct.

Kaleta is considered a repeat offender under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Based on his average annual salary, he will forfeit US$76,219.25.

The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
