Campagna scores twice as the Wolves double up the Petes

SUDBURY, Ont. - Mathew Campagna scored two goals as the host Sudbury Wolves downed the Peterborough Petes 6-3 on Friday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Dominik Kubalik, Dominik Kahun, Michael Kantor and Brody Silk also scored for the Wolves (28-23-11).

Nelson Armstrong had two goals for the Petes (22-33-7) while Nick Ritchie also found the back of the net.

Frank Palazzese turned aside 35 shots for the win as Michael Giugovaz allowed five goals on 31 shots in defeat.

Campagna opened the scoring for the Wolves at 12:21 in the first period before adding another on the power play at 16:54.

Kahun made it 3-0 when he connected on a pass from behind the net and buried the puck past Giugovaz at 17:26.

Kubalik added to the lead at 7:58 of the second period when he fired home a shot during a scramble in front of the net.

Armstrong put the Petes on the board with a shot that beat Palazzese glove side at 12:55 before Ritchie cut the deficit in half at 15:46.

Armstrong scored his second goal at 16:30 in the third period, but Kantor regained the two-goal lead at 18:23.

Silk scored into an empty net at 18:50 to secure the victory for the Wolves.

Sudbury went 1 for 5 on the power play while Peterborough finished 0 for 3.
