Philadelphia Flyers forward Tye McGinn had surgery Thursday to repair a fractured right orbital bone, CSN Philadelphia reported Saturday.
Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said McGinn would be out four weeks. The Flyers were hopeful they could get the rookie back in two weeks without surgery.
McGinn was injured Feb. 25 in a fight with Mike Brown of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Flyers acquired forward Simon Gagne in a trade with the Los Angeles Kings on Feb. 26, in part to replace McGinn.
