The Washington Capitals and Philadelphia Flyers may not be divisional foes anymore, but their rivalry dates all the way to the 1979-80 season when the Capitals joined the Flyers in the Patrick Division.
They will meet once again as part of NBCSN's Wednesday Night Rivalry presented by Coors Light at 7:30 p.m. at Wells Fargo Center.
The Capitals and Flyers aren't having the seasons many predicted, but each are showing signs of turning things around. The Flyers have won three of five and the Capitals have won two straight and five of seven.
Washington captain Alex Ovechkin has six goals and 12 points in 11 February games, and had a hat trick two games ago against the New Jersey Devils. The Flyers' leading scorer isn't captain Claude Giroux, but instead it's 23-year-old Jakub Voracek with eight goals and 24 points in 21 games. In February, Voracek has 21 points in 14 games.
