Macek scores SO winner as the Hitmen win eighth game in a row at home

CALGARY - Brooks Macek scored the lone goal of the shootout to lead the Calgary Hitmen to a 6-5 win over the visiting Prince Albert Raiders in Western Hockey League action Friday.

Jesse Zgraggen had a goal and an assist for the Hitmen (40-17-4), who won their eighth game in a row on home ice.

Brady Brassart, Pavlo Padakin and Colten Mayor also scored for Calgary while Macek had two assists.

Leon Draisaitl scored twice for the Raiders (33-22-6), and Anthony Bardaro had a goal and an assist.

Mike Winther and Dylan Busenius each scored once to round out Prince Albert's offence.

Calgary's Chris Driedger made 26 saves through regulation and overtime and then stopped all three shots he faced in the shootout to record his 30th win of the season.

Prince Albert's Andy Desautels stopped 15-of-16 shots in a relief appearance before Macek scored the only goal of the shootout on him. Luke Siemens started in net for the Raiders and stopped 15-of-19 shots before he was relieved by Desautels at 9:34 of the second period.

The Hitmen led 2-0 after the first period on goals by Brassart and Zgraggen.

Winther then scored early in the second for the Raiders before Padakin put the Hitmen up 3-1.

After Draisaitl and Busenius scored for Prince Albert to tie up the contest, Mayor replied for the Hitmen to give Calgary a 4-3 lead heading into the final period.

Bardaro tied up the game once again at 9:42 of the third before Draisaitl scored 27 seconds later to give the Raiders their first lead of the game.

Rissling then scored with 2:21 left in regulation to force overtime.

Calgary went 0 for 4 on the power play while Prince Albert went 0 for 5.
