QMJHL Roundup: Lalonde leads Moncton Wildcats over Acadie-Bathurst Titan 5-1

Christophe Lalonde scored twice and Allain Saulnier added a goal and an assist Tuesday as the Moncton Wildcats defeated the Acadie-Bathurst Titan 5-1 in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Conor Garland and Danick Emond had the other goals for Moncton (35-20-1), while Yannick Veilleux chipped in with two assists.

Alex Dubeau made 24 saves to pick up the win.

Marc-Olivier Brouillard had the only goal for Acadie-Bathurst (22-30-6), which got 21 saves from Jacob Brennan.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was: Quebec 4, Blainville-Boisbriand 2; and Victoriaville 5, Gatineau 0.

At Moncton, N.B., after Garland and Emond scored in the first to give the Wildcats a 2-0 edge, Lalonde scored at 7:26 and 18:58 of the second to stretch the lead to four after two periods.

Saulnier made it 5-0 for Moncton at 4:03 of the third before Brouillard broke up Dubeau's shutout bid at 13:31.

Moncton finished the night 1-for-2 on the power play, while Acadie-Bathurst was scoreless on its three chances.

At Quebec City, Anthony Duclair scored twice as Quebec (34-19-4) doubled up Blainville-Boisbriand (32-16-8).

At Gatineau, Que., Luke St-Amand made 28 saves and Brandon Whitney stopped 28 shots as Victoriaville (26-23-8) shut out the Olympiques (27-27-3).
