PORTLAND, Ore. - Troy Trombley stopped 41 shots Friday for his first Western Hockey League victory as the Tri-City Americans defeated the host Portland Winterhawks 6-2.
Zachary Yuen and Justin Feser each had a goal and two assists for the Americans (32-22-3), who halted a three-game slide, and Mitch Topping, Brian Williams and Connor Rankin had a goal and an assist apiece.
Jesse Mychan added a single goal to round out Tri-City's offence.
Chase De Leo and Oliver Bjorkstrand each had a goal and an assist for the Winterhawks (46-9-3), who fell to 23-6-1 on home ice.
Mac Carruth picked up the loss after allowing five goals on 24 shots in 45 minutes of action. Brendan Burke replaced Carruth in the third period and stopped 7-of-8 shots in relief.
Tri-City went 2 for 3 on the power play while Portland failed to score on five chances with the man advantage.
